I think I read somewhere about 75% of congress in the US graduated in some form of college. I was starting to think if that really made a huge difference in the decisions they make and the other 25% make(numbers might be off by a bit I forgot honestly). But not just that, it seems more and more people are judging how valid your opinion is by how much schooling you get.

What's your opinion? Do you think anyone who isn't extremely smart shouldn't talk about politics, or do you think everyone should have a say regardless? Or other :)

Who's been in the White House for years?

Seriously though folks... if you'll be dealing with complex problems including environmental and economic onces, the biggest of the next 20 years or more, you need to be able to interact with brilliant people.

On the other hand, it is sometimes said whether in politics or the corporate world, all you have to do is be smart enough to surround yourself with brilliant and loyal people.

As well, if you are thinking of fairly local politics...school bd, city, state/province even, you could campaign on particular issues you know well and which catch voters' imaginations.

College anymore doesn't mean what it used to.  I know people who would be much better suited for jobs than their bosses, but because they don't have a college degree then their experience means nothing.  College is just something to put on your resume to get you into higher places.

Politics, though, is a touchy thing, as most people don't really learn about it and the laws and statutes and such without schooling.  I think a person is capable of being in politics without a college degree, but it will be hard-earned respect if they get any, compared to a person just out of college stepping into the field.
