I'm going to ask a question very reasonably and I would like you guys to help me out. Please give me your most honest and sincere answers... Let's pretend you dislike a person, A LOT. You hate them and you hate their friends/boyfriend/girlfriend. They have their own apartment off campus at college. This person used to drink a lot their freshman year but not so much anymore. You still pretty much hate them. Let's say you know for a FACT that this person's roommates plan to have a party this coming weekend. You know their exact address, you know that they will have people over, and you know there will be alcohol involved. You're not certain if the person you dislike will drink, but you know that they could get in trouble for fines/citations related to the residence. Now...if you could annonomously report this person to the police...Would you make a call to the tap line if you know no one could connect the call back to you??

Alcohol is involved? Hell no! I would sneak in and steal all the alcohol I could get my hands on. I would never get someone busted for alcohol. I just couldn't bust someone for something I love. So with that said, hell no.

No, because nothing will happen, unless they are dumb enough to be outside, or to answer the door.

I would definitely report it. I know that when parties break loose, where I live, I call the cops, b/c the parties get loud, which is illegal, and drunken, which is furthermore, and more, illegal. There's a reason laws exist. If I have to follow them, so do you. And as a resident of this neighborhood, it's a part of my duty to report it. It'd be like if I knew drinking were going on my housing residence, on campus. It's an alcohol free campus. And there's no drinking, because of that, and if there's a party, and alcohol is known to be involved, it's in our hands to report it.

Reporting someone to get them in trouble, is wrong, but reporting them, BECAUSE they're doing something wrong, with no intention other than that behind it, is what is expected. Approaching partiers and drunks in person only gets you known as the village tattletale, whereas, if you report it to the police, or residency managers, right away, you're seen as only doing what you were meant to/expected.
