Were people always so gung-ho about people being racist though? I can't really remember people claiming "you're racist" as much as they are now, unless I just didn't notice.

Obviously it's a more recent thing.  At first you had people (such as Howard Zinn with his "A People's History of the United States" published in 1980, which became popular thereafter) presenting the US in such a negative way, very focused on the struggle of minorities.  Not to say that this was a "bad" thing necessarily, but that it's an extremely one-sided view that presents whites as evil oppressors, and minorities as victims, with nothing in between.

As a result, ideas like white guilt, white privilege, etc. have sprung up and become popular among the left in the US.  Soon it became taboo for whites to really talk about race at all, unless it's something positive about minorities or negative about whites.  If they dared to say anything else on the matter, they'd be accused of racism, where many whites have now fired back attempting to accuse minorities of the same thing.

And now you got the mess we have today.

I don't think there was so much "you're sexist!" when Hillary was up for dems either, unless people just didn't care as much.

It's been said that it's far better to be a sexist in the US than it is to be a racist.

I think it depends on where you live because "you're racist" was always a big thing when I was in school because of the 30-50% black population used that excuse anytime anyone disagreed with anything or objected to things such as black only parts of the playground/cafeteria/bus/etc.

That's a good point, too.  I do find that schools with higher percentages of minorities (mainly blacks, Latinos, Native Americans, etc.) do tend to focus on racism a lot more than schools with a larger white and Asian percentage.  It was certainly that way between the two high schools I went to.

The saying of "reverse racism" is horrible itself.  That implies there is some correct way to be racist and implies that this correct way is against blacks.  Racism is attributing qualities to an individual merely because of their race regardless of what race that is.

I don't even get what the original post in the website was trying to say.

wtf did he mean by

Perhaps a few people voted in search of welfare checks, or out of irrational exuberance, or maybe even out of a racist desire to have a president of a certain race — a reverse Bradley effect, if you will. Such is the price of democracy, "the worst political system except for all those other forms that have been tried."

I read it 4 times I still don't get it. It's like what ppl who like Obama are welfare recipients? wtf...Or like the only reason you want Obama is if you black or on welfare? And wtf is that all about democracy being the worst system except the other ones that have been tried?

So just because Obama is elected president then suddenly Democracy is shitty? And why does he think there's a "heightened threat of terrorism" under Obama? You really feel more secure under Bush?

The whole first part of the original post is just bullshit to me.

So maybe the answer was off the mark because the original post was weird in the first place?

I agree though its not racist. But some of it sure is like wtf. The second part though is ok. Typical conservo weirdness but ok.
