what the fuck.
did you not read my post then? i addressed the negative connotation and pointed out why it exists

drug users who continue to defensively react to it only serve to reinforce the image

So to you, despite what the user has in mind for the drug, they are only using it as an escape from reality because they are too weak to face it sober?

And you, demon, what do you have faith in?
Nothing. I am so exquisitely empty

drugs are an escape

Bullshit. Even drugs that take you away from reality don't have to be an escape from reality; "escape" denotes that you're leaving because you don't like reality, not because you do like where you're going instead.

i thought your reply was humorous even though it was stupid

 Care to explain why?

because an escape is an escape regardless of your feelings towards where you go and what you leave behind.

the denotation is something you see and choose to react to in a defensive manner out of reflex

this is probably because the overwhelming majority of drug users are dysfunctional reality hating creatures.

"Denotation" means definition. Perhaps you were thinking of connotation? Either way, the denotation isn't something that I see subjectively, it's the literal definition of the word.

the avoidance of reality by absorption of the mind in entertainment or in an imaginative situation, activity, etc.

When I get out of my house to go to the store, I'm not escaping it.
When I get in my car to go to the store, I'm not escaping my front lawn.
When I park and get out of it, I'm not escaping my car.
When I take acid, I'm not escaping my normal perceptions. I'm leaving them.

i had connotation on mind yeah
i still see it as an escape and not a 'departing from normal perceptions' thing

'depart' implies a different set of things for me, i'd explain but given your usage we'd probably clash on that too

and why are you comparing a trip to the store to tripping on acid? maybe it made sense to you when you wrote it, but it really doesn't.

but hey maybe i dont get it, maybe going to the store is mind altering, maybe i need acid to see that

i said the majority of users are hopeless dysfunctional people who cant deal with life

having said that, i'll point out that i believe any person who has an addiction to something (be it drugs or an activity) falls in this category of people

You have to escape from something. If you love the real world, you're not escaping from it any more than you escape from your house every day when you go out.

and why are you comparing a trip to the store to tripping on acid? maybe it made sense to you when you wrote it, but it really doesn't.

To illustrate why you're misusing the word escape. I'm not trying to say that going to the store is like tripping, I'm just showing how the word "escape" doesn't fit for all drug use by way of example. I would never say that I'm escaping my car when I get out of it in the parking lot even though I'm leaving my car. I would never say that I'm escaping reality when I smoke DMT even though my perceptions leave it. I'm leaving it. The point is that escapism denotes more than "the tendency to exit a lot"; it speaks to a subject's desire to exit some object because the subject has/ perceives a negative relation to the object. If I hate reality and do drugs to make it go away, it's escapism. If I love "reality" and do drugs because I love those, too, it's not.

I would reccomend you wait a little bit. The responsible drug users use for fun...Not as an escape. If you don't think it's fun then you'll be a bad druggie :D

get some alcohol, or go to the store and buy a pack of coricidin cough & cold, and be positive to get the one with 30mg dextromethorphan and take 8-10 tablets. wait an hour, and take the rest.

I know this is a cheap and shitty thing to do to get high, but honestly, that stuff gives me the most amazing beautiful feeling ive ever had. That feeling of comfort and possibility is wonderful. I'm able to just let go of all my demons and anger and embrace the love of what life is and what its all about. It's as if god were to sit down next to you and just say "Don't worry, everything is going to be alright". i like to explore alternate universes and realities, where I would be right now if i had taken different paths in life, or how it would be if certain things in the past had turned out differently, and who i would be today if that alternate route had been taken.
