My current car 1993 Buick lasebre limited went gay when I had to goto the ER like two days ago. So now it's sitting in the front driveway and it won't turn over because theres a stupid short in the ignition that I've had to deal with ever since I got the car free from grandparents.

I only get like 425 from SSI a month. My mom tell me she will help pay half and stuff of the car note. But I tell her I don't know if I can afford it. She tell me I just being cheap lol. But anyway I been thinking about it and maybe I should get the aveo at least it a new car.

Besides my SSI income comes to 10,000$ in about two years so. I don't know, I guess I will but I am not sure. Anyone here have the aveo or drove it before? It would be a nice car to have and reliable. Then I can actually think about getting a part time job with a reliable car.

Your thoughts?

if your old car is dead beyond reasonable repair, then get a different car. I wouldnt get a brand new car though.  Buy a used one. as far as an aveo, get it if its a good deal. im sure its a fine car, but ive never had one

Good enough answer for me. I'll try and go for a used one

Instead of "dealing with" it, why don't you get it fixed ?

I'm sure it isn't a HUGE problem and it could be taken care of relatively easily.

No offense.. people who bitch about cars being broken and that do nothing to fix them shouldn't complain about it.

As for the aveo. they are nice cars, but realize they are cheap so they are cheaply built. They're cheap to maintain, but the LeSabre you have now is likely cheaper. Why? The 3800 engine in it is a boat anchor. That's how much money those engines are worth. Parts are dirty cheap when they break.

I would say get the ignition problem diagnosed, and then fixed and keep it. It's free and you don't owe anything on it.

Not really sure. My car isn't even worth more then 1000.
Though it was free, maybe I should just try and ask a relative for a car. Though I Might as well buy a brand new car that will last years then have to worry about this 10+ year old car breaking down randomly like it's been doing since I got it back in march.

It's not reliable and won't be unless I put dollars in it, its not like the car was even kept up in mint condition before I got it so it may be a waste of money trying to get it all fixed up when I can just get new one and not have to worry if it will start up or break down.

Oh yeah you mention the parts for my Buick are cheap. But the labor to get the parts in won't be and well I don't plan on buying any mechanics for dummies books anytime soon. And it would be a hassle trying to find a mechanic that will give me a deal on labor costs.

I wouldn't buy a new car it lses alot of value as soon as you drive it off the showroom.

get a post 2000's car and you should find an excellent car with all the goodies you want, but make sure it has low miles.

Snow, go to http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com , the lesabre and bonneville both are the same cars on the underneath. they both share the same engine. there are members all over the place that lend a helping hand to every member of the forum. off the top of my head, i know of at least six people around the country that do free work out of the goodness of their hearts for free and to help new people on the forums learn about their cars and cars in general.

i know because i was a member of the forum back from march of '06 until august of '06 when i got banned. i came back there in january of '08, then i left on my own terms a few months later since i didn't really like the place after they switched it up a bit.. but if you want to get help and be able to save tons of money, check it out, sign up. watch out for a guy named willwren who is an admin there.. he's a dick. the rest of the people are really nice. i'm close friends with quite a few people. they're a great helpful bunch =]

I'm sure an Aveo would be fine, so long as you tolerate its rediculously small size. I would agree though that get something low-miles and used, you'll save quite a bit of money that way.
