How do you actually airbrush something on a picture?

Sorry, second photo shop question today, but I'm trying to add something to the picture. I used the eyedropper to get the colozur I wanted (all this on another layer) and selected the airbrush paintbrush, but no paint is coming...whenever I make a mark it looks like nothing happened.

lol its really easy, just make another layer, and do a color thats skintone and color over the skin, gaussian blur it, and i forgot whats the thing but it'll make it clear, but yeah airbrushing is easy as hell, google it

Air brushing isn't actually done with just one of the brushes and a color. Well I mean, it could be, but it'd be crappy.
