I see this topic has come up again in the states and defining a marriage between a man and a women.

Have the states that have done this actually defined what makes a man or a women?

Is it purely anatomy? Hormones? Or hard wired genetics?

Here is a simple question in response then.

How do you know what prison to send a criminal to?

How do you know if they go to the men's prison or the women's prison?

How do you know what to sign up for with the olympics, men's gymnastics or women's?

You don't in some cases.

You will find that some people are kept of Olympic competition for failure to past sex testing.

Intersex is a complication in many laws.

And when the doctor makes that choice?

Again is it anatomy? Hormones? Or hard wired genetics? Or something else?

Is this your opinion or can you back this up with some legal or scientific documentation?

What is funny is that people lump sex and gender together, when it doesn't always work that way.

What is funny is that people are too fucking stupid to understand that man / woman are words that denote sex and masculine / feminine are words that denote gender, but these idiots tend to be anti-science anyways.

Hm... That's an intersting question. Technically, there are three distinct sexes, male, female, and hermaphrodite. (When it comes to humans, anyway) Hermaphrodites are not common, and normally at birth, one sex will be chosen for that baby to become, and it will undergo surgery to assign that sex. That's not getting into the philosophical debate on which sex post-op transexuals are, though.

As for genders, I suppose there's mainly masculine and feminine. Not sure exactly how transgendered people play into that, that's more of a philosophical debate. Transgendered people identify with gender roles not common of their sex, to put it simply. They can identify as homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, etc. I'm not an expert on that.
