Talk to the other employees that have been working there longer than you, see when they got their first raise.

Do they give employees raises at McDonalds? I would have thought there was like a industry-set wage for employees.

I work at Mcdonalds and as far as I can see you only get raises if you're promoted, or if you change the type of work you do. Like people on the front get less than people working the lobby (me!). Obviously Shift Managers get more etc.

Its a fixed rate of pay as its a large company. If you want to work for a place that gives you raises then you need to work for a smaller company, although with the credit crunch looming I wouldn't say that's a good option.

But... we were told at our orientation meeting that if any employee gets 3 scores of 100% in a row during an inspection, the whole restaurant gets a bonus

Talking to your most direct manager is a good way to go, he/she should be able to give you tips and ideas on how to best go about it (they may even put in a good word for you!). It is very common for people to say "I do enjoy working here, I just simply have too many bills. I would hate to have to leave. Is there anything I can do to better my financial situation with this company?" They may offer you more hours, a simple raise, or even tips on getting a promotion (which would help you in the long run anyway).

If you can think of any reasons for why you deserve a raise (perhaps you have very good sales stats, maybe you've gotten customer compliments, put in extra hours or covers ships regularly, etc.) then that will help to show your worth to your manager and will put you in a better position to get your raise.

So when you're happy (Hurray!), or sad (Aw!),
Or frightened (Eeek!), or mad (Rats!)

I don't know how it works at McDonalds but at Tim Hortons you get a raise at 3 months after your probationary period (I got mine at 6 months since I recently became supervisor and minimum had just gone up two weeks previous). But than we get yearly raises after that.

Try talking to other employees to see when they first got one, or just go straight to your manager. Just make sure you're really polite and don't get angry if your manager can't give you one. You could also look for potential job advancements at the store (get promoted).
