I CONQUERED I assume you mean e/-4 + 8 < 1 rather than e/(-4+8) < 1 ... so take 8 from both sides e/-4 < -7 multiply both sides by -4 (remembering the inequality swaps when multiplying by a negative number) e > 28 et voila...

There weren't any parantheses in the problem as the way it was in the book. I copied it down the way it was written. 
Yeah, they may not have but they are most likely written in a different way. Example: Is that e ---- + 8 < 1 ----> (e/-4)+8 < 1 -4 or e ------- < 1 ? -----> e/(-4+8) < 1 -4 + 8 Post edited at 8:23 pm on Oct. 12, 2008 by Blue Baby
