Pisses me off.

They are both just kicking each other in the nuts, to put it simply, and I honestly hate both of their views on educational funding. Why is the U.S. falling behind in educational standards compared with the rest of the world? MAYBE IT'S BECAUSE YOUR MAKING ALL OF THE FUNDING GO TO THE RETARDS?(excuse my language, but they are, it's root word quite literally means, "slow.") Maybe if we actually focused more on Advanced Placement courses, no not expanding the classes, that will just degrade high level courses, or at least spread the funding across the board, and don't concentrate it on those less fortunate. Do I feel sorry for them? Yes, and I know people who have autism, my godmother teaches special ed, I argue with her quite a bit over this. Not to be cruel, but you have to realize something; PRACTICAL APPLICATION. If someone has a mental disability, as in an actual chemical imbalance or the absence of a chromosome, then all the funding in the world cannot get them to advanced levels, maybe normal, but at that point, normal has also been degraded just to raise these students.

They're talking about no child left behind right now.

Which is honestly the biggest problem in our education system right now.

I am currently on the long path to becoming a teacher (far away from it haha but on the road) and my big question is... McCain keeps saying we will reward good teachers find bad teachers "a new line of work." How do we define a good or bad teacher? Is a good teacher only one who's students pass standardized tests? Is a bad teacher one who's students have lower scores, but improve their attitudes, life choices, and become better suited to be a part of society? It's the same problem in No Child Left Behind. How do we define a good teacher? It's the same description as pornography: "I know it when I see it."

Here they talked of revolution. Here it was they lit the flame.
Here they sang about `tomorrow' and tomorrow never came.

Ahah. I just finished writing a very long essay about No Child Left Behind.

It was really a very long rant.

I laugh at NCLB. Honestly, are the kids who can't pass those tests really going to go very far in life anyway? I mean, really. They either honestly don't have the mental capacity to score any better, or they don't care enough to try. Either way, they are not likely to be tomorrow's leaders.

And believe it or not, the purpose of school isn't to teach kids how to take a test. Whenever a teacher teaches only what's on the test I die a little bit inside.

I just wanted to tell you good luck. I'm also pursuing a career in education, and I can tell you I will gladly get fired before I conform to the test.
