Is it just me, or do you hear them refer to McCain as "Senator McCain" far more often than anybody calls Obama "Senator Obama" I don't think that implies anything, just something I have been noticing.
"So the debate between Senator McCain and Obama will be going on tonight"
"Yes, senator McCain is on his way right now"
"And what about Obama"
"Obama and his campaign are preparing for the debate on campus as we speak"
"Is Senator McCain going to be prepared to the debate?"
"Well I'm sure his staff and him are busy working on it on the flight over here. Obama and his campaing are also busy working and don't want to be disturbed".
etc. etc.
