Okay, i'm very confused by the UK tax system!
Non of it was explained in school or college, and now i'm working full time and expect to be working 43 hours a week from now on until the end of january (when i go abroad - GAP year) and im being taxed huge amounts

I understand the NI part: they take some money and i dont get it back. Its not too much so im not bothered.

But the tax was 50£ off my last pay packet (fortnightly) and its a lot.

Basically can somebody explain how tax allowances and stuff works?

I understand that there is a tax allowance (£6035 for this year) and that if i earn over this from 6 April 08 to 6 April 09 then ill be taxed. How much? But im working two jobs, and it seems i only get one allowance?
I have put this on my weekday job (35 hours a week) since ill be earning more there than my saturday job (7.5 hours a week). But it hasnt changed over yet. This means ill get a tax rebate once it goes through their system???

How much will i be taxed on my saturday job? And if i go over the £6035 for the tax year, how much will i be taxed??
What are the rates for NI (I was charged about a fiver this time around) ??

Thanks, i'm so confused about this, and i dont want to lose all my money through tax!

x

Yep, one allowance is spread over every job you have. So anything in total anually, throughout the jobs, over £6035 is taxed the full amount.
