what can university police really do if they smell marijuana in your room? anyone had an experience like this?


i was w/ a group of friends in a dorm, someone smelled pot and called down a cop, and now we're supposed to report to housing and tell our stories.

My friend's brother's roommate got kicked out because there was suspected pot in their living area, so they came in and did a search and found it.  I assume it's like that everywhere.  I know at my college if you're found with alcohol in the room then you have a very great potential of getting expelled...In fact, I think someone in my dorm has already been kicked-out for alcohol in the room.

At my old college, they were real cops so they took all my shit. I was never charged with anything thankfully

Be careful to not be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Especially a dorm room if you know there is going to be drug useage.

Lmao.  Sucks.  The policy here is if they dont see it they cant say anything.  This is in terms of the RA of course.

I've smoked weed in my room, played beer pong, smoked some more... they dont come knocking or anything.  And if they do knock, you obviously dont just open the door you hide your shit and then open it.  Pretty awesome.

It depends on what kind of campus police you have... Where I am, the cops are real officers with statewide arrest authority and the ability to write traffic tickets too.
