Curious, since I can't be bothered to read this whole topic for content, did you have an actual anthropologist in mind or is this just a claim you're hoping no one is going to ask you to cite evidence for?

Carlton Coon, William Howells, Charles Weisman actually made the claim and heavily supported it, all other anthropologists use it as fact.

Here is one who does NOT agree. In fat most MODERN anthropplogist agree that modern man does NOT have a simian shelf.

Fully modern man can be characterized as having a brain capacity that averages about 1700 cc. Conversely; the brain capacity of the pongids (gorilla, chimpanzee, orangutan) averages about 400 cc. There is no overlap between the smallest human brain capacity and the largest simian brain capacity.

You're thinking that unless it's a large, gorilla face, it's not a simian shelf - this is wrong.
