I found the earlier guidelines a little too strict and obviously not working... so hopefully this helps quite a bit on here. New Guidelines will be put into affect immediately after this post.
All members in the Car Forum are subject to follow the Car Forum Guidelines along with LiveWire's Terms of Use and the Community Guidelines as well. If members do not agree with the Guidelines, then you should simply just close your account, as that is part of your agreement to abide by them.
Guidelines
- Bashing company A vs. company B will not be tolerated if this bashing occurs in a topic what was just about company A. Meaning if someone posts about Chevy, you shouldn't come in and say "chevy sucks, get a ford" this just leads to spam.
- Do not derail topics just to bash another member. If you're the one getting bashed, leave it and report it. If you're the one doing the bashing, then you will be dealt with accordingly.
- Flaming will not be tolerated but constructive criticism will be acceptable... as long as it stays constructive and unbiased. Debates are allowed, as long as they are not intended to harass another member or their ideas/knowledge.
- Do not create topics about illegal activities, especially about illegal street racing and such.
Suggestions...
to avoid spam, flame and such.
- When creating a new topic, checkmark the box next to "Do not show in fresh topics." This helps especially if you want car people only, but be aware, this will not prevent otherwise 100%.
- DO NOT POST HUGE IMAGES! No image shall be larger than 800 pixels x 600 pixels. No one likes a stretched out browser, if the picture is big with detail please provide a link. (If you upload the image onto the LW server and then use the IMG tags, the image will automatically be reduced to fit the screen.)
- Do not assume one correct way is the ONLY way. Like most mechanical devices and equipment, there can be several methods used in order to fix something or to fix up something.
- If you create a topic, asking about what others think of a vehicle... do not expect members to agree with you. It's a foolish insight to start with.
- Respect others opinions and don't put someone down because of it. Just simply say, "This is how I do it..." or "I don't know about that but..." Don't argue who's right and who's wrong- let the OP who's asking decide that as they're the ones running the topic (but if they OP starts flaming or derailing- the topic will be gone).
- Blur your tags. Why? In some states, tag information is public record. But it's completely up to you on whether or not you want to take that risk.
REMINDER: The Car Forum is still a part of the LiveWire Community, therefore all members are expected to abide all rules and Terms of Service Agreements. Do not look at the Car Forum as if it's separate and expect only "car people" to take part in discussions. Just like any of the other forums on LiveWire, the car forum is subject to spam and trolls as well. If you suspect a member is a "troll/spammer," please send me a PM and I shall deal with the member myself. It's not your job to pick and choose who you think is what and such, and then deal with them however you feel is appropriate.
I want to try to make the Car Forum fun for everyone. So if you work with me, I will work with you. Simple. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments, feel free to PM me anytime.
