Ok well i got a virus today and was like omd scary like spybot was going crazing saying la la been changed
and windows defender even found a trojan.. wow it found something..
but like went into safe mode.. and norton found nothing.. i even had to go onto another computer to download the norton virus scanner cos 360 doesn't work in safe mode.. like wtf.. stupid
so like spybot found some stuff in safe mode.. so restarted but the virus was still there..
so i done a system restore and it seems to be gone.. i'm doing another virus scan now..
so jw.. would system restore have gotten rid of the virus or am i doomed.

I have gotten a virus before on my computer and I was like freakin' out so I tried what you did... System restore thinking ya know it'll go back but actually no that doesn't solve the problem. Your computer has to be clean then I guess use system restore.

system restore will chaneg the settings back to the restore point, so registry values and some files will get deleted in the process. This might not delete the virus, but it can stop it being executed in a lot of cases, which then enables you to delete it later on

A system restore is unlikely to get rid of a virus. There is a possibility if it was installed with some software before which a checkpoint was made then it could be removed, but to my understanding it wouldn't remove it at all.

i restored it to yesterday and the thing that gave me the virus (ithink) i installed today.. and then i deleted the folder it was in.

Well it might still be floating around, so I urge you to scan the system again with whatever anti-virus software you have (download AVG Free or Kapersky if Norton seems to not be working correctly for you).

What I have found effective is get Avast (free), update, and run a boot-time scan. Catches shit that a normal scan will miss.
