A national socialist is typically a great believer in a totalitarian system (one leader with all power), racism, and imperialism.
WRONG. National Socialism is organizing all of the nations resources for the benefit of it's native population (In Germanys case - the Germans, or Germanic people). Companies still make profit (Unlike pure Socialism) but not at the expense of screwing their own workers, people, and culture. National Socialists want a strong, healthy people. That's why they approve of government funding for health care, education, etc. The Nazis are a good example - they had a huge progressive social program that included health spas for workers, child care factories for working mothers, paid maternity leave, and breast cancer awareness (first ever to exist). It wasn't all barbaross, racism, and genocide.
Also, National Socialist societies and people set themselves at very high standards. They police themselves as well as their enemies. They want their society to be healthy, educated, and productive.
National Socialism conforms much more closely to the old European ideals of Volk - your kith and kin being important.
Why is that bad? Because they tend to be extreme in getting their beliefs put through. I think we all agree that racism isn't a great thing and while some people may believe in a totalitarian system...it isn't a democracy, which is something most favor.
Proof that you don't know what it is. Being German doesn't mean anything.

You have a very Utopian view of national socialism. All those things they do and/or promise to do? They do them to gain better understanding for what they do, because people are willing to cut their losses.

I didn't make any promises in this. The thing is - when people disagree or can't do what is needed, they are punished. Mentally retarded children are "Mercy killed" - probably in the womb itself. The naturally dumb are sterilized. The criminals the same - sterilized (well, the crime would also matter).
All those things they do and/or promise to do?
It's not from absolutely nothing to complete National Socialism - it's a gradual climb.
The funny thing is, Germany didn't even finish their climb.
They do them to gain better understanding for what they do, because people are willing to cut their losses.
