What are these "equal" rights you speak of?

Equality under secular law.

Banning gay marriage on the basis that it contradicts a religious belief is anything but.

That has nothing to do with "equal" rights. Sorry. Gays have exactly the same "rights" that I have.

No they don't. Marriage isn't purely a religious institution, and should be an inalienable right.

Really, why are people working SO hard to suppress others?

So why don't they protect children from pedophile priests(coming from someone raised Catholic, so put down the pitchforks)/teachers/family friends, drugs, ignorance, etc.?

i honestly cant believe that in a state like california same sex marriage will now be banned. it is really sad to see that the equal rights of people are getting stepped on like it is the right thing to do.

the right to get married

What right to marriage do I have that a gay person doesn't?

Assuming you are straight, you have the freedom to marry whomever you are in love with.

because if we allow gays to get married it will make children gay because being gay is a virus that attacks your desire to make babies

i really have no fucking idea the whole thing is idiotic

ROFL. Well, banning gay marriage certainly hasn't reduced the amount of gays out there.

Yeah, I have no fucking clue, either. I have NEVER been able to get a straight answer from people.

No, I don't. If I love my father, if I love my brother, if I love a 10 year old boy, if I love a girl (straight or not)... there are laws that define who I can marry and who I cannot. A gay person has the same rights I do.

Do they have visitation rights, FA? Do they have rights to make major medical decisions for their partners? Do they have the protection from testifying against the partner in court? Because you have those rights.

Do not twist my words. I said 'in love', not 'love'. Being 'in love' with a person is extremely different than familial love. When you fall in love someday, you'll understand that.

Gays do not have the same rights as you do. Face it.

I wasn't twisting your words, I was making a point. Those "rights" you have, I have, any other person in this country has does not speak to, or about, 'love'. They simply define marriage... the union of a man and a  woman. It does not prevent a marriage of "convenience" or of "necessity" or any other 'loveless' union. As I said, it simply defines that union. Straights and gays have the same rights.

But they do not acquire/have the same marriage rights, FA. See my previous post.

No, we don't. If we're gay, we love someone of the same sex as us. If you're straight, you love someone of the opposite sex. You can marry someone you LOVE, and we can't.

You think that marriage should be loveless and sexless? WOW. Your priorities and values sound so skewed...
