why do you want him to legalize it so bad? pot head much?

sounds like someone could use a blunt.

Actually, for someone who loves to smoke, it is better for marijuana to be illegal...if they like their money.

Depends on if they legalize with no restrictions. Then we could just grow our own.

I highly doubt this would be the case. I think what Obama is trying to do is for medical-use. It would be very difficult for him to legalize marijuana entirely since most Americans are still trapped in the wrong state-of-mind.

True but we are progressing farther along each day.

But even if the price would go up it would be worth it to me to be able to smoke without fear of a over bearing government.

I understand where you're coming from, but a good smoker never gets caught

Sucks they still have so many conservative people out there, where's the cool people at?

No way, he needs the adolescent/hippie support without getting on the conservatives' bad side.

I'm not expecting him to, at least not right away.  There's no way anyone will stand for him trying to reform drug laws before taking care of the economy and the war and health care.

But hopefully after two, four, six years it could be addressed...

He doesn't have the power to.

Why is it that people always assume that the president has this god like power of making all their wishes and desires true?  This isn't Cuba, this isn't a communist nation, we don't have a dictator.  This is America, it is a democratic nation, we have a president.  The only power the president has is the ability to say "yay or nay" on a bill that has already gone through congress.  If the bill made it through congress and onto his desk, would he say yes?  Probably, if he was in his second term, but it never will, at least not any time soon.

I know this. But someone in a seat high as his does have power to influence what happens in this country.

The fact that more than one quarter of our states already have decriminalization or medical sanction should be reason enough to allow it.

Our union hasn't degressed into a state of couch-locked munchie-ridden hippies yet, I think we're doing ok.

Big polls have asked about decriminilization and they tend to get a large majority for it.

State legislation bills still fail to be passed.  Before there is a federal ruling on the matter more states must become decriminalized.

It's not good for health.
Since when has that had anything to do with this? If they did drug laws based on health, weed, lsd, shrooms, and mdma would be legal and alcohol and tobacco would be illegal.

On topic, I doubt he will. The states will slowly legalize medical marijuana then we may see legalization or at least de-criminalization in most states. Hopefully he may decide to at least de-criminalize it because it is not a crime to begin with.

Maybe 'cause it's easier to get addicted to?

If you're prone enough to get addicted to Marijuana, you're prone enough to get just as if not more addicted to TV, movies, video games, other hobbies, etc etc etc. It's not hard to not be addicted to Marijuana.

But you see, it's not.

Whereas with alcohol and ciggarettes it's easier to get addicted.

Marijuana will not cause you to get addicted. People who smoke it constantly may have a chance to get mentally addicted. But that's all. Mentally.

Alcoholics become physically addicted. When they try to come off they get withdrawel symptoms. For example, DTs (aka pink elephants).

Cigarette smokers will find it hard to QUIT too. They become physically addicted.

After searching wiki for cannibis and marijuana addiction I have failed to find any pages. If anyone can find a page on cannibis withdrawal on wiki please let me know.

But they can't ban cigarettes and stuff all out of a sudden because some people won't be able to take it.
However, marijuana didn't exist for as long as cigarettes and alcohol(...right?) so it's just to prevent another addiction.
