Going through old stuff on my computer and I found this piece I wrote when I was 12... I was a strange kid.

Also, I know the names are wierd.. I was obsessed with old Irish names.

In the time it takes to grow older this book will be finished. Although this book is about one person's life and death, every second it takes you to read this book someone will be dying. Many people say if you don't do this then I'll kill you, have you ever thought what it would be like if you really did kill them?

People are born people die but what about you, you probably can't remember your birth and if you're reading this then I'm guessing that you're not dead. So why are these things so important? Your birth is the time you came into the world and you don't even remember it. If you're the oldest child you may be able to remember your sibling's birth. All I remember about that time is hate and resentment towards my sister because no one seemed to care about me.
And death one second you're here the next you're gone you don't feel it. People always say at least he/she died a painless death. He/she was a good person; God would have granted them an easy death. People cry for a bit, and then they forget.
One brings you into the world and one brings you out, but when people take their own life, their time is cut short. That is when to cry, that is the time no one should forget.
If by any chance you do think of taking your own life then remember this, "Don't take your life TODAY, there may be a better reason to take it TOMORROW". This means never take your life.

4/10
See me Sifra, very bad work, this is not sticking to the subject. We must not cry when one of our loved ones dies, how very ridiculous. Redo this piece of work. Hand it in tomorrow.

That was the comment I got on my homework "Birth and Death". I wasn't so much upset about the homework, I had known that I wasn't going to get a good mark, my new teacher doesn't not approve of work like that. She did approve of work that Shea Brady did though. She had asked Shea to read out some of her writing to the class it went something like this;

Birth and death are both important things in human identity. Birth is the time when you see your first moments off the world. We may not consciously be able to remember our birth, but deep inside us there is a memory of total happiness. One might remember the birth of a sibling, and so perhaps that is where the memory of our birth comes from, form our sibling's birth but wherever it came from we remember it, which is what matters.
Death is also an important time in human nature, but in a much sadder, less joyful way. Just as birth is a time when a person comes into the world, death is a time when a person leaves it.

And so on for about 10 minutes. Her mark was 9/10 Very good Shea. Would you mind reading this out in assembly, if the headmaster does not object.

It makes me sick to see her always getting top marks. My essay was about the realities of birth and death, hers was about the fantasy. I don't try to annoy the teachers by doing my work 'wrong' I just seem to do it different to how they want it done.

I thought it was good :O some teachers try to stomp out any emotion in writing though, and to go with the same pointless stuff as everyone else
