So, Support Leaders about a week ago I decided to beat the laziness that I had and I started giving detailed, supportive advice in the depression forum.
I've been through depression and stress myself so I can relate most of the time.
I don't think I have 10 examples where the replies were detailed enough, but before I send my application..

Was it easy or hard for you to become a Support Leader?

By the way, I'm not gonna send my application yet, I'm gonna wait till late November or early December.. but I'd really love to be a Support Leader...

Thoughts? Tips?

Thanks.

Easy. I passed it on the first try.

I think its easy if you have the skills to be a Support Leader. If you can give clear, sincere, helpful advice then it shouldn't be hard.

What you need:

1. Good grammar
2. Be a positive role model for other LWians
3. In-depth and caring replies
4. Sincere wish to actually help
5. Pretty much all that together

As far as easy/hard goes, I think it kind of depends on what is natural for you.

Some people are naturally good at coming up with long, thoughtful responses to certain topics.  Others have to work at it a bit.  That will make the biggest difference IMO.

Either way, good luck :)

This is my second time being a Support Leader. The first time I tried, I passed on the first go. Then I re-signed for a while and re-applied and got it again on the first try again. So, in that sense it was easy for me. I hear its harder to become a SL now though. Weather that is through or not, I'm not sure but that is what I have heard.

Also remember you have a written piece to do. Explaining why you would like to become a Support Leader and saying why you would be good choice for a Support Leader. I feel like it would benefit you if you thought about your reasons why BEFORE you sit down to write that part up.

When you decide on your 10 links, have a few more just in case. One of two of your links might not be up to standards and you could then replace then with one of the other few you have. Also, try and send in links that have been made over a range of about 2 months or so. It shows your commitment to support on LiveWire. Then of course you will need to have the essentials in your replies, good grammar, spelling and being geniune on what you say.

There isn't anything else I can really say. Thats all I can think of. I wish you the best of luck with your application.

I don't think that it should really be that hard. For a Support Leader, giving advice shouldn't be a challange. Even for my own replies, I can easily tell which ones are my better ones and which ones I was lazier on, so it's pretty easy for me to pick which ones best represent me as a Support Leader.

However, sometimes giving good advice can be hard. We all go through our own issues, and I find that I often go through periods of time where I don't even want to think about helping someone with a serious issue, it's just too mentally draining for me.

Or frightened (Eeek!), or mad (Rats!)
