I think I'm getting too much rem sleep. I'm always dreaming and I always remember. You know how sometimes you can wake up and feel like you've had a bad nights sleep becase it's been restless and junk like that? it's always like that. Atleast since august. last year I didn't sleep enough. now I don't seem to be getting the right kind of sleep and I'm always having bad dreams and waking up usually several times a night. I don't have much trouble falling asleep anymore, 30min or so.

any tips as to how I can get more of the right kind of sleep so that I wake up feeling rested?

I have that too, 95% of the time.

You learn to get used to them and appreciate the good 5% you've got left.

dont drink any caffinated drinks before bed, dont have any visual simulation at least 30 min. before bed. And relax in your bed helping to clear your mind, this should help with absess firing of nerons(dreaming)

don't mind dreamingin itself but too much of rem sleep leaves me waking after 12 hours of sleep exhausted, like I've just come from a parallel life and haven't slept at all
