Hiya,
I went abroad with my mum 4th November so do some volunteer work. We stayed at my aunt and uncle who live in Singapore before me flying out and doing my projects. My first one was in Phuket,Thailand and I HATED it there! First of all at the very last minute they had to change the project coz there wasn't any english speaking rep guys there so I ended up doing a "Gibbon Rehabilitation Project" which wasn't what i wanted at all but did it anyway. Anyway the location was out in the middle of nowhere,the house i was staying in was falling apart(plaster all over the and cracks in the walls) and our toilet, the roof wasn't even attached to the walls to any walls so i had spiders,gecko's and other animals in my shower with me.
i had to leave that project just after 5 days of staying there and there will be a complaint going in there dont worry! I mean the work was.. o.k apart from getting up at 6am every morning to work which was horrible!! Anyway i am about to go to Malaysia for 4 weeks to work in a zoo in Kuala Lumpa. This project looks a lot better but i am just so fed up and miserable I just want to come home!
i am covered in mosquito bites which are awful coz I take an allergic reaction to them so im all bloated and horrible. Im suffering from very bad sun stroke and most of all my boyfriend's not happy. He is really missing me and we are arguing all the time when i am coming home and I end up bursting into tears because of it.
The thing is though this trip was paid by my mum,dad and gran for my 21st birthday and altogether for the 2 projects plus flights its costs over $5,000. if i go home then thats their money down the drain and it is a birthday present I have just wasted.I don't wanna go home as well knowing ive disappointed my family. my mum won't let me go either coz she knows its just to get back to y boyfriend but it's not really i just am fed up with abroad life and I have had the heat and that and wanna go home! Plz help what can i do?? Emma ps sorry for the long letter! :( :(

i expected a good volunteer programme, meet new friends and work with animals but tis is not what i have got!! i worked with animals that bite and pull your hair(the gibbons), work in filthy conditions, sleep and get bitten by mosquito's every day ad work at 6am every day.. eh NO WAY!! you start work at 9am just like normal(just like this other project is Malaysia if i do it!). you get a home which has no holes in the walls and windows so that insects can get through. You dont get a house that leaks every time it rains!! tat was what Phuket was like!
I tell you it's just REALLY put me off abroad life and i do hate to say that. Im in Singapore just now and it's good but the heat is really going for me and my cousins are really starting to bother me i can't get away from them(well one anyway). My aunt and uncle and nagging at me coz im always speaking to my boyfriend i mean...COME ON!! We have been together 3 years thee is no f***ing way Im gonna give that up just because of you!!
ive just looked at flights back home which i can get but they are 2,000 pounds!! i dont ave that kind of money!!
