Because, apparently, you can be a horrible, disgusting, judgemental person, but as long as you believe in Jesus and confess your sins, you will get into heaven, but that wonderfully nice gay man down the street won't, because he's gay...

you can't get a set of values from a book which commands you to kill adulterers. you must have preset values, which are probably where you differ from other people, since no two people are the same. regarding the god thing, it doesn't affect how morally different you are from someone who does believe. though it could potentially mean that your motives are true and less selfish. is it really moral to do good if you are expecting an immense reward for it
That is true, religion tries to use the "after life" of Heaven or Hell, to make people be "good", when in reality when you die you just decompose in a box underground.
