My graphics card box says it has 512 MB of ram, but my computer says my card has 765 MB of ram whats up with that?

Your graphics and your computer hold different amounts of ram... so you can only have 512 left for your graphics but anything else goes with the 765... like, it's the way it's divided up.

It could be mislabeled. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen it. It is also possible your computer is dedicating a part of your ram towards graphics. However this usually only occurs if you are on a 32bit system with more than 3gb of ram.

Its not a mistake, its not rounded, and its not mislabeled. Its Virtual Memory added to your Physical Video Card Memory. The computer allows computer memory to be used as video memory, and this is added to your 512MB graphics card.

Virtual memory is a computer system technique which gives an application program the impression that it has contiguous working memory, while in fact it may be physically fragmented and may even overflow on to disk storage.
