What are some good reasons religion should not be allowed in public schools and for those opposed some good reasons why it should.

So you can know more about the world. Once you know someones religion, you can tell a lot of things about that person. They should teach both evolution and world religions.

Well, I think with a religion in school it feels even more forced upon us kids.. what if we don't believe in it, but our parents do? It's kinda ridiculous. Just let people believe what they want.

i think it should be because if you don't like the religion then don't listen too the person telling you about it, just ignore it!

yes but that doesn't change the fact that it still existed. Religion doesn't change shit like this, only the social norms of the day do.

Religion and culture should definately be taught about and the diversity of students should be a good thing. But the basis of a school's policies shouldn't be religion.

Religion in public schools will only convince children to become atheists by giving a clear focus for their rebellion.

At the same time rebelling against religion in school is very fun indeed (I speak from experience) and it lays, rather unconsciously, a cultural background that is actually quite useful to draw upon whether or not one actually chooses to reject it in the end.

So I am torn on the issue. Good thing I'm not in charge.

Public, secular schools should not be based around any particular religion, but religion should not be banned from them.
