I recently installed Windows XP over my old copy because of MASSIVE errors and spyware infections.  I am using the same set of speakers I've used before, and they hooked up just fine, now that I've re-installed windows, the speakers won't produce any sound, any help is appreciated.

When you reformat a computer, due to all drivers being wiped, windows tries to use generic drivers with pieces of hardware it is not familiar with. Obviously in your case this has not worked correctly and you need to obtain the correct sound drivers in order to get it working again. Here is what to do:

Go to this website and download the latest sound drivers.

Install these drivers like you would install any other application. Follow the wizard instructions and after, restart your computer.
