 But, hip-hop wasn't the main reason why BET started. It was really just a part of Black culture - one slice of the reason pie.

when you say "african-american" it is specific but white people as a whole is too general to make a club or WET out of it. If you were to say Canadian Television, or German television you would be talking more specific, and it is okay to be patriotic, but white television or club is too general and doesn't make sense.
