The whole point of BET was to have a channel where blacks could be on TV as much as Whites. Why? Because before BET blacks were rarely seen on TV because nobody wanted to work with black actors and actresses.  

 Because of BET we have grown used to accept blacks being on television, and finally it's not much of a big deal anymore.  

 BET was more of a blessing vs being some racist channel on TV.

"targeted towards" whites doesn't mean ALL or ONLY whites. Most mainstream tv is "targeted" towards whites anyway. Bu thats not even the point. The thing is those TVs are ok to watch special things sometimes, But if you really watch ONLY one channel like that all the time you really got a problem.

Much of the TV nowadays is targeted to everyone - multicultural. Especially the childrens stations - Nickelodeon supported Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, two nonWhite holidays, Disney channel supports multiculturalism a lot, having some children Olympics with children from many countries and supporting food from other cultures.

And I don't watch much TV anyway...
