This is really a question for people who are currently suffering from an eating. (for recovered anas/mias, see bottom of topic)

I am a prolific bulimic. I can binge and purge with ease as ive been doing it for 5 years now. The thing is that i believe my eating disorder is habitual as i don't want to have an eating disorder yet im still carrying out these dangerous acts. (i now actually see myself as being to thin)
The main issue is that i can't find any help in the UK. I've tried cognitive behavioural therapy which did not work (twice), ive tried anti depressants and nearly died from an allergic reaction.

My question to members on this site is: what is your goal? do you want to carry on losing weight or are you no longer thinking of losing weight but can't find the help.

For any recovered anorexics or bulimics: did you undergo cognitive behavioural therapy? did it work for you? did you relapse?

I'm in the early stages of recovering from an eating disorder. As in I recognise that I have a problem so I am waiting for an assessment from my doctor.

As for my goal.. I want to recover. But I am still in my disordered mindset which makes the idea of gaining weight terrifying. And yeah I still want to lose weight, but I know I shouldn't..

Psychoanalytic Therapy- will look for patterns or significant events that may play a role in the client's current difficulties. Psychoanalysts believe that childhood events and unconscious feelings, thoughts and motivations play a role in mental illness and maladaptive behaviors.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy- behavioral therapists work to change problematic behaviors that have been trained through years of reinforcement. Cognitive therapists tend to focus on specific problems. These therapists believe that irrational thinking or faulty perceptions cause dysfunctions.

Group Therapy- Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy where two or more clients work with one or more therapists or counselors. This methods is a popular format for support groups, where group members can learn from the experiences of others and offer advice.

I myself went through CBT for depression
It worked for a short while but I very quickly relapsed in to depression and an Ed.

I've tried self therapy, but that was a bust in the end.  It just messed things up more it seems like because you go so long with thinking you're okay and all the while you're losing complete control.
