I've dropped my iPhone countless times before, but last night whilst I was walking home from town I was texting a friend and I dropped it. Lucky as I am I dropped it square on the corner exactly where the power button is. It crushed it pressing it down causing it to restart continuously.

I thought I was royally screwed but after hacking at it with my pen knife I recovered it somewhat, and although the power button is now more recessed and is mangled, it works! Thank God for that, Apple would probably have charged me a shit ton because accidental damage is not covered under their warranty (nor AppleCare mind you).

Anyone else had any phone related mishaps that have miraculously been saved?

Damn, how high was that drop?

And yeah, one time I left my phone in my pants pocket when it went into the laundry. The screen wouldn't work, but amazingly it could still call people.

On my iPhone, I have to push the home button down reaaaaaaaally hard to get it to work.
As disgusting as it sounds, when I run, I just put my phone on the side of my pants and I guess my sweat caused it to stop working correctly.

Not really saved, but it still works.

I'm not careless, I just use it a lot, and sometimes  if I have to fumble around with other things it gets loose. The screen is immaculate though, it's just the aluminium back that is so trashed.

The swimming pool? Haha, I've never done anything like that, I'm not that silly.

The drop was from above waist height. I doubt it was more than a metre and a half.

My boyfriend put his phone through the wash.
My ex put his phone through the wash, and flushed the substitute down the toilet.
I went swimming with my phone and it survived (Nokia 5210, they were like the cockroaches of phones). I put my O2 XDA Atom under a running tap and it was fine. I drop the fucker once too many times, and it dies
