There's a girl at my school who has developed anorexia. Everyone is bitching about her saying how it's all her fault and that she deserves all the abuse she's getting from it (loads of people are being mean to her).
I don't think it's her fault, and when I try and point out that you can't actually help developing an eating disorder, I get flamed.
Your opinions? Do you think people who develop eating disorders are 100% to blame for not eating in the first place?

Disorders like this aren't even worth your time. It's another classic example of a mother cuddling society, embracing a disease / disorder that wasn't around a few hundred years ago.
Tell her to grow up and buy her a McDonalds.

That's terrible, and no one can say anything about eating disorder's unless they've suffered from one. They're not something that you want to do and suffer from.

That's really sad.
Perhaps the negative attention will help... I know when I stopped eating everyone began telling me "you look really unhealthy, please eat" and that was more motivation to keep eating.

It pisses me off how todays society just accepts these disorders such as obesity, and myalgic encephalomyelitis. It's not a disorder, you just eat too much, or you've psychologically built up the idea that you're lacking motivation to get out of bed and go to work.
Majority of the time it's a cry for attention. Don't give it them, concentrate on your own life.

I think that this kind of attitude is what causes these problems in the first place. When you see an anorexic fighting for her life, or not fighting which is usually the case- then you wonder why the fuck they aren't helping themselves. The point is they can't control it, nobody can- it is nothing to do with a case of growing up and i think it is a case of ignorance that you think like this. Trust me if you had anorexia you would feel differently.

Some people have disorders that affect their eating that were around a few hundred years ago. They just weren't named. Think shit through before you sound like a dumbass. Many things may affect how much someone is eating. They could be nervous about something or just have severe anxiety(not fake) as some people get nervous very easily compared to others. When it lasts too long and isn't temporary, it gets considered an eating disorder.
