And it's got a really mixed response. Some people are claiming it's fake, cos they tried it on "mythbusters" and it didn't work. Others are claiming they did it as a school project...
Does it work or not? It's not like I'm gonna do it, lol, I was just wondering.

I don't have an iPod, so I wouldn't be certain but it looks like the cable is too long, they've coiled 2 up and one isn't leading anywhere... but thats my guess

problem with that they show the ipod charging screen after they move away from the onion... so once the ipod is "plugged in" it doesn't show the onion and then another point is that the chord is really long from the ipod to the onion, and you never see the bottom of it soo you don't know if they are even pluggin in the same chord i think it is very very stupid :(

This video, however, falls under the "magic beans" area of science because you can't produce a voltage using a USB head stuck in a potato and you certainly can't get enough voltage for it to charge something like an IPod.

Either the guy(s) who made the video plugged the USB into a port when it was offscreen or, as the wire is in a coil on top of a strange-looking surface, volatge is being induced in the wire using magnets.
