i need to know: it can be caused by something physical right? not just a chemical imbalance? im going all Dr. House and trying SO hard to find what it is.
I've tried:
A) antidepressants
B) jerking off daily (lol sorry if its random)
C) being in the sun all day
D) thinking "happy thoughts"
E)making out with a girlfriend
F)taking lithium
G)getting neurofeedback
H)getting lots of hugs
I)someone telling me i don't suck and
J)shrink telling me "it's not my fault" Good Will Hunting Style
K) eliminated a LOT of sugar from my diet
L)listen to standup comedy
M)hang out with friends...

i don't want to find a reason to give up yet. anyone smart with this type of thing, know if there could be any physical reason behind it?

I don't want to knock your methods of trying to find stuff out, and how determined you are to find out what's the cause is excellent and suggests you'll get better once you find what suits you. But, for the sake of saying, I don;t think eliminating things like that will work too well because depression is usually a cumulative effect of lots of little things building up. Sure, there may be one overriding factor... and even then I think isolating it alone won;t make you feel better - it needs dealing with. If you follow me?

Again, it's awesome you're so active about it and keep that up and all the best. =) Personally I'd stick with the medicine, some therapy and when comfortably on those (not cures in themselves) try work out the cause. Presuming you haven't already...

Also yea physical problems can cause depression. i.e if your paralysed, you stay in a wheelchair/bed and get depressed
Although im thinking this answer was not along the lines of what you were looking for

Maybe your depressed because all your thinking about is the idea of depression.
