| hmm... I sleep better when I take Prozac than I did before, The doctor said it would help me sleep as I was unable to sleep before, and it appears to be working in all the ways she said it would which is nice.... Maybe you were unable to sleep because of another reason? Stress or anxiety? Side effects are different for everyone, so it could be the Prozac I guess I did find this on a website, dont know if it will be very helpful, but it does say about not being able to sleep.
Patients and their families should watch out for worsening depression or thoughts of suicide. Also watch out for any sudden or severe changes in feelings such as feeling anxious, agitated, panicky, irritable, hostile, aggressive, impulsive, severely restless, overly excited and hyperactive, or not being able to sleep. If this happens, especially at the beginning of treatment or after a change in dose, call your doctor.
I hope you are able to sleep better tonight =] |

| I take on pill a day and have been on it for around 2 months. <br> I had the exact same side effects as you, they were horrible at the time but they go away and you end up feeling much MUCH better, i promise. Just wait it out, if you're like me (which it seems like you are) it'll do more good than bad. If they don't stop, im sorry!! but there are plenty of other antidepressants out there, and everyone reacts differently, so try another. This is the first time i've taken any perscription drug and it's really made me feel a lot better. |

I had insomnia anyway. You should take it in the morning because its supposed to help you wake up. Ive had some side effects (feeling sick, dry mouth and eyes) after only one day on the stuff, but its meant to take 3 weeks- 3 months to be fully effective. Stick with it. Never take more than your presciption: if youve just started on it, im guessing you're on 20mg, which is one tablet. Take it at roughly the same time every morning for another 2 weeks. If you still feel rough, tell the person who prescribed it and see if they can alter the dose or give you a different drug with less intrusive side effects. hope this helped. |

But only for the shitty SSRIs. Because companies finance these doctors' clinics and use them to advertise for Prozac, Zoloft, and Effexor and shit like that. That's why all psychiatrists' coffee mugs have the name of a different antidepressant. Honestly, long-term benzodiazepine use in my opinion is the best treatment for depression/anxiety. They're highly addictive, but then again you could have serious medical problems if you stop taking an SSRI cold turkey as well. This is controversial to say because I know no one would agree with me, but I'd rather live my entire life on benzos and function normally than live without them and have to deal with my depression. Other ones you should not try: -Imipramine: makes you pee and cum blood -Buspar: gives you an unpleasant light-headed feeling Tell your doctor that you don't like the unpleasant side effects of Prozac and that you'd like to change it to something else. If you're lucky, he could give you Xanax or Valium. |

When my mum found out that I needed to be on some kind of anti-depressant she got all crazy new age medicine-ish. So she made me take some B vitamins, some St Johns Wort, and burn lots of incense 0.o It works, for a bit. But it's not really any good for the long term. |

| Try stick with it through the side effects, contact your doctor whenever you're worried. Also, if you came off them now, you probably wouldn't need a withdrawal period as you've been on them for a minimal length of time. |

| How many tablets do you take a day?? I'm on one just now, not noticed any side effects, but then ive only been taking them two days. The doctor did say that it would take a couple of weeks to take effect. Tbh, I just want to feel better about everything again, so if I do get some side effects, I'll put up with them. |

I've been on it for 2 weeks... it made me really irritable and sick but I think that's passing now, I'm not feeling any better though, doctor said it would take 2-3 weeks. I still feel really sick when I take it but that goes in half an hour and I don't feel dizzy anymore. Give it another 2 weeks and just try and give your body time to adjust and it should get better... I'm really hoping it will and don't want to give up, so you don't give up either! =] good luck |

give it another 2 weeks, then decide. It takes about 3-4 weeks for the side effects to wear off |
