What DOES a therapist do when they find that out?

Replies xxpsychoxx285xx Posted at 5:22 pm on Dec. 26, 2008 i talk to my therapist about being suicidal all the time... he thinks that i'm perfectly sane. my dad also knows that i think about it a lot, i think he chooses to just pretend it's not there. anyway, my therapist seems to think i'm not at risk, although he did say... My psychologist isnt allowed to tell anyone anything i say unless it severely endangers me or another child. I was given the option of being hospitalised rather than have mum watching my every move if she suspected me of being suicidal :s Davidlee92 Posted at 10:02 pm on Dec. 24, 2008 By law. if they belive that you are willing to hurt yourself or hurt someone else they must report you and take immidiate action. I dont know what you are going threw and im not going to pry, but if u wish to talk you may PM me omgjkjklmnop Posted at 10:00 pm on Dec. 24, 2008 depending on their privacy policy, they may do anything from suggest more intensive therapy to telling your loved ones. personally, i would be the one to tell your loved ones that you need their love and support, but i wouldn't betray a patient's trust, and risk things getting drastically worse. on the topic of depression management, have you consulted with a doctor to determine the possibility of medication on top of therapy? mississippiguy09 Posted at 10:00 pm on Dec. 24, 2008 she can't say shit See Me Now Posted at 10:00 pm on Dec. 24, 2008 She's going to help you dissect the feelings that make you want to die and hopefully get you past them. If she feels you are in serious and immediate danger of ending your life, or causing harm to yourself or others, she can commit you to a hospital on suicide watch. I wish you luck.
