Earlier this year there was a big power-outage in Indiana.  Well, at some of the grocery stores (Taget I'll use specifically because I know people who work there) they didn't store the food properly, so even though they power was only out for maybe like an hour, all the food was considered "spoiled" and not good for sale.

Instead of say, donating all that food to those who need it, they threw ALL of it out...I don't remember how much, but well over in the hundreds of thousands of dollars of food.

That's ridiculous! It was still fine and could have gone to someone who needed it...But on the other hand I see why they did it.--to prevent any lawsuits from people who possibly would get sick eating that donated food.

...Still, it's disappointing.

you don't make sense.

if it really was spoiled, why would they make the foodless people sick?
if it really wasn't spoiled, why wouldn't they just sell it?

It wasn't really spoiled, but health regulations require they throw it out anyway.

There's your answer.
