Will the US get involved in this in anyway besides trying to negotiate a cease fire? This is supposed to erupt into a full war, and if thats the case I don't think the western world can remain neutral.

I don't think the US is going to attack a country that has the power to fight back properly, that's not how they do.

Which is what?  China?  Unfortunately for all the people that want to see US muscle, the only people which could put up a fight are either allies(you guys) or they have a nuclear arsenal they're willing to use if everything goes to hell.  (See North Korea)

they where given citezenship from former president Putin, and they broke away from georgia 14 years ago.
and every one knows that this will end in a few days. Russia wont leave the region. So south Osetia will join the RF just like North Osetia did. and georgia will calm down for another decade. just like it happend in 92. No one is going to be stupid enough to actually back up georgia in its war against russia. all they gona do is talk.

90% of all people living in South Osetia are russian citizens
and after the Georgians attacked the country and Russia retaliated you call it an invasion?
look at it this way, if some one attacked Puerto rico would america just sit by and watch?

Russia gave them citizenship when it was still under recognized Georgia control. totally different htan if someone invaded Puerto Rico.

If anyone can make Russia back off, it's the US.
Russians think they can do anything but they should leave Georgia alone.

There won't be a world war three between Russia and U.S.A, those countries know that well the idea of mutual destruction and do not want to scrafice their stuffs

a world war 3 is going to be in Middle east should Israel attack Iran or should U.S do the dirty job.

Probably, what you're describing I guess would be Cold War 2. I don't think this will amount to anything big enough to pull the US or indeed any individual country (apart from Georgia, obviously) into declaring war with Russia.

yah ure right thats why we stayed out of WWII.

In which case the war had been raging for 4 years already and even then you only joined in retaliation (Pearl Harbour). You would have had me if you'd said the Cold War. But let's keep things in proportion, even since then you've got involved in/fucked up hundreds of countries, just because you're bigger, badder and you can.

My point is just if America got involved in a war that it didn't neccessarily need to, against an opponent with more than AK47s, sticks and stones and a two-hundred strong mounted sword brigade, I'd eat my fuckin hat. I'm not saying it's a bad thing! Just clearly isn't likely.

yah i know what u mean im just saying that, if it came to amounting pressure the US would go to war with any competing power. Just because we haven't done that since WWII does not mean that today we are different. If NATO called for us to fight I see no reason to think we would ignore them
