War in general is necessary.
If you want a "heated topic", you should choose a specific war.

War sucks, but there are times that it is a necessary evil.  What would our world be like if we never defeated Nazi Germany and the Axis powers in World War II?  Could you make the argument that we'd be better off with a Europe ruled by the Third Reich and an Asia ruled by Imperial Japan?

If the American Revolution never happened, could you argue that we'd have the same quality of life as we do now, under the British Crown?  Hell, Canada is still property of the United Kingdom, after all these years.  It's not even a real country, it's classified as a "dominion", which is not the same as a nation-state.

War has its purpose.  War is bad, but peace in the light of tyranny and subjugation is worse.

It's lucky for the power-frenzy people-users that every generation there's a fresh new war-hungry  cycle of innocence into this great lovely world of ours for them to exploit and propel mankind further and faster towards inventions and innovations which will be of greater use for future successors to more successfully exploit and mangle the future generations of ignorants.

Cynical ass veteran here, out.

the decision to go in was correct, but operation on the field were sloppy.

we went in to get sadam out of power and to keep terrorim out. we did one of those two things, get out of there.

It is inevitable in the state that the world is currently in and will be in for a long time to come.

I don't really know. I don't want the war, but I'm scared of what might happen if we just suddenly pull out.

George Bush has gotten us into this crap and of course, he won't be the one to fix his own mistakes.

War has made us into who we are today.  Kind of like butterfly effect; Without past wars, who knows what we would be like today.
