Associated Press Adam Nyerere Bahner, known by his stage name Tay Zonday, admits that he's been less than genuine with his fans.
Bahner was made famous on the web when his hit song "Chocolate Rain" became an Internet phenomenon. In an exclusive Fox News interview, which will air on Tuesday, September 16, on On the Record with Greta Van Susteren, he admitted that his signature trait- a naturally extremely deep voice- isn't really natural.
In fact, his natural voice is nearly two octaves higher than the one he puts on to sing and speak in interviews. Only in Fox's interview does he speaks in his natural voice, a tone that might even come as a shock to fans.
"I just got caught up in my lie," Bahner admits. "The people wanted me to be a certain way and I felt like I had to fit that mold. So whenever I would get booked for shows I'd plan on coming out but when I got out there and saw the people my voice just went low."
For the rest of the interview watch On the Record with Greta Van Susteren at 5:00 PM, 4:00 central.
