Apparently your going to need to be 21 to buy booze from off-licences and supermarkets but the age for pubs and clubs will stay at 18.
So i can go out and get absaloutly bladdered but i cant have a beer watching the football in my house.

What a load of shite

Sounds like it's more of an attempt to control drinking in youths. We all know teenagers can't be trusted, and only letting them drink in a bar, where their intake is controlled, probably seemed like a good idea at the time. Having a split age though seems a little odd to me too.

I read about this aswell and find it quite stupid actually.
Although havent they been saying things like this for the past few years, but done nothing about it?

It prevents you being able to buy really cheap alcohol, and thus getting wasted on a daily basis. Wherever you want. It's not backwards, but forwards thinking.

thats stupid. not as stupid as raising the tax on pre mixed drinks and not spirits though. that is the ultimate of stupid.

The drinking culture is different in England, I think. Teenagers buy pre-mixers because they're cheaper and easier to get hold of than anything else. If you go and buy spirits, you're guaranteed to get ID'd over here.

Again an attempt to stop drinking on the street.

its just as easy to drink a spirits on the street as premixed drinks... its easier infact because you can fit 20 standard drinks into 1 drink bottle...

But you have to mix it with something else, so you have to carry around 2 bottles then whatever you want to mix it in cups or a bottle or whatever. With premixed drinks you just opne and drink.

you dont have to mix it. lots of people dont, especially guys.

i saw braveheart again the other day, and that made me want to go to scotland. its pretty their.
TheatreMinelli Posted at 3:15 am on June 16, 2008
It does seem a little backward doesn't it. I suppose it is an attempt to reduce underage drinking on the street....or just drinking on the street full stop.
