My sister is getting married tomorrow and it has finally hit me. I like the guy and all, I just wish they waited more than 2 weeks to plan this wedding. i feel like she is going to regret having a ceremony in our living room when she had a chance to have an actual wedding. She always talked about wanting a big wedding but her fiance never wanted one. I feel like she is becoming one of those girls who does whatever their boyfriends/ husbands tell them to do.

I don't want this to happen and I can't do anything about it. It's not my day so it's none of my business to say what I think about this, but I feel alone because she is my only sister. She would kill me if i told her about this because I would be 'ruining her day.'

Has anyone had a sibling get married and felt this way? Please help.

My Sister got eloped. The only reason they had a ceremony after that is for my parents. I was her maid of honor on her request. She picked her dress out and the flowers and told my mom to plan the rest. She didn't want a big wedding, she was just pleasing my parents.

If she regrets it that's her choice.

That sucks that she got married without following her dream of having a big wedding. I guess it's too late now, eh? :(

i know it must feel like a crappy feeling, but in the end, it's her decision to make alone. marriage is a partnership, so both people's interests can sometimes be strained. if she is okay with having a small wedding for him, then so be it.

Just relax, if shes happy let her be happy, if she regrets it later she will have to live with her decision. Its her life to live, let her make the mistakes and learn from them, its important. (not to say its a mistake, some people are happy with small weddings.)

No i haven't really seen her that much. It just all came down so quickly, and I just went to a wedding Saturday and it definitely hit me for the first time then. Like actually seeing a bride and groom and parents... and knowing that was going to be my sister in two days wigged me out.

she could always hold another one. like... just the party or something.
if not, she'll have to wait until they renew their vows. if they ever do that.

Some people dont need to have a big extravagant wedding, what it represents is enough for them. Not to say that it isnt rushed, but it may not be in their eyes.
