Hey! Today we discussed human research subjects (HRS). The most important thing to remember is that we MUST protect their rights and safeguard their welfare. So, if you are going to conduct interviews, surveys, capture images on film or video, ask people to do things for you, whatever, you HAVE TO HAVE a signed consent form for each individual.

To get an idea of the scope and seriousness of this, click here: http://www.hhs.gov/ohrp/humansubjects/assurance/filasurt.htm

Assignment: You will begin drafting your informed consent form. Look at various examples and make up your form based on what your research entails. A rough draft is due by Tuesday, September 16.

A good source for examples of consent forms: http://www.samford.edu/IRB/ic_examples.html
