| Indeed. My teacher also said they can define themselves as what we would think of as "religious oxymorons." Like, he uses Japan a lot because he visited there but, he said a lot of them identify themselves as zen atheists. He also said that religions can be interchangeable like it doesn't matter you can go to both the Shinto shrine and the Buddhist shrine and be a member of both. It's very interesting. And like I said, it takes a health perspective also. Like does church involvement have an affect on social ties, a sense of well-being and self-mastery. |

| Oooo... sounds rather very interesting to me. And I understand what you're talking about with Eastern religions. Religions are more of a philosophy thing, such as Buddhism is all about following the middle road. I think it's China (might be wrong), that what they think is "perfect" is actually rather very different than what we think as "perfect". What we think may be naturally imperfect in the West may be seen as naturally perfect in the East. Makes me very interested in visiting these countries. :) |

Religious studies in school is a joke.
It's a college course, and it's not what you think it is.
I was getting ready to say... OP: How's the class coming along otherwise?
Otherwise it's fine. The class takes an interesting perspective on religion in relating it to health and coping. When I say it's not what it sounds like, I mean, we don't study religion specifically and the different religions throughout history. We will touch on Japanese religious beliefs, but only because their definition of religion is very different from what we think of as religion, and our views on what religion is can reflect on how we use it in relation to our physical, mental, and emotional health. |

that is the way it works..4 times a semester usually quarter, midterm, 3rd quarter, final you will have lots of tests.
Oh..well, I don't really know if it's a midterm though because my professors said they really wouldn't have them, and most of my classes only have 2 tests before the final....so idk. *shrugs* Sucks either way that I have all these tests this week.
it does suck. |

because its midterms no?
No it's not. Its only been half a semester!
Actually, midterms aren't for a bit still...and it's only been a quarter of a semester, not a half...for me at least. It's just that the teacher's schedules worked out like that.
