The professor told us that he curved the class so that the median was the cutoff point, meaning that half the class got an A. My exams put me well over that mark, though my problem sets might've brought me down a bit. I thought I did very well on my final, but I found out today that I got a B. So either one of two things could've happened: 1) I didn't do that well on the final. 2) A lot of the "dumber" kids dropped out of the class, raising the median. I'm disappointed. My GPA is middling, and I'm in a grade-inflated school.
