yeah, same happened with my friend. try making friends with other people at the dorms and hang out there more often, or just do things to keep you out of the aparment and with people.

Find places to go hang out. Like socail clubs or recreational programs. You can meet people trhat way. What about hanging out with your family? Drop by your parents house sometimes if you get lonley at home.

I lived in a dorm for a year and started looking for an apartment. Best decision I ever made. It is quiet for studying. I know things are clean and I don't have to clean up after someone else. What is in the refrigerator is mine and what I like to eat and it never vanishes. I don't have to worry about interrupting a mate or having one interrupt me. My grades are exceptional and I attribute a large part of it to my apartment.

Thanks for your post. It reminds me that even though it can be hard living with a roommate some of the time, living alone is worse

At the start of freshman year, my parents got me a one bedroom apartment to live in, instead of the dorms. I'm not sure why they did that, but initially I was happy living with myself. Don't have to share shit. As the months passed by, I started to feel more and more lonely and depressed. I now realize that living by yourself is a fucking terrible idea if you're a freshman. So learn from me, and never do it. It may sound awesome to some, but it ends in misery. I usually don't mind being alone, but this sucks.
I understand COMPLETELY I had a roommate until winter break, then she moved out [couldn't pay for it anymore] and I came back from winter break lonely and depressed. I just came from classes to my room and back again. It helped keep my homework up, but I like living with others. Luckily she lives on campus now, so we spend more time together. But that first month was terrible. I hope you can make it through the rest of the year :] and that you've found someone to room with next year. |

that is the wierdest thing ever...i cant WAIT until i live alone. im only 16 turning 17 in 2 months but this summer i might try to rent my own apartment with a friend...and we will do it dont doubt us lol. it must be really great i cant wait to get out of my parents house and being so free to do whatever i want whenever i want. i cant see anything wrong with this. id rather be a lil lonely when im home sometimes then live with my parents any longer. besides if i was u id just have people over often..
