Here's the story

I go to the University of Pittsburgh, 45 minutes away from home.

Last year I was a freshman. My parents forced me to live at home, because they're overprotective asses.

I hated it. Essentially I met nobody at all. Admittedly I don't make friends easy.

Now they've compromised and will allow me to live on campus. Unfortunately, I lost my housing guarantee, which basically means I'm on a waiting list. I called the housing department, and I have no chance.

What would you do in my shoes? Would you suck it up and live in an apartment? I'm contemplating not going to college next year...

colleges can fuck you over big time but all you have to do is be persistent and convince them that it was their mistake.

honestly... I went to the university of pittsburgh last year as a freshman too... and my year sucked and I lived on campus. I'm transferring to temple university, which is closer to home for me... but also apartments aren't that bad, you have a lot more freedom and you if you find some good roommates you'll make the friends that you need. I'm living in an apartment at temple. I called around to landlords and stuff and some of them will place just one person in an apartment with a couple of other people... which could be a great situation... but iono yet. but don't worry you aren't the only person at pitt who didn't make many friends, there are plenty of people there who would have loved to have met you last year myself included... it sucks being lonely.

Don't not go to college, your education is important! I understand not wanting to live at home, living in an apartment I'm sure would be nice. Get more involved on campus, join some clubs and talk to people in your classes you'd be surprised at how many other people are looking for friends too.
