Recently it has been a bit tense in my room, because my roommate found out that I am not living with her next year. She was a bit melodramatic about it and moped for a couple days, but now she is back to her regular sunshine and happiness (aka back to being annoyingly cheerful).

This week has been additionally stressful for me because of midterms (she's had none). If I don't laugh at her jokes or giggle with her about anything, all I hear is "Are you okay? Are you okay?" and it's annoying me to no end (furthermore, this is after I JUST WOKE UP).

Any suggestions to keep me from biting her head off?

1) Hide the plastic sporks. Don't wan't any "accidents"

2) Wear headphones, even if they aren't turned on. People tend to not talk to you if they think you're listening to music, especially if you have headphones that are large and cover your entire ear.  Headphones while studying = bliss..except for the whole "studying" thing.

Your roomie sounds like a freaking clone of mine. I don't know how many times she tells me good morning and goodbye before she leaves. I'm freaking asleep! Or trying anyway. I just avoid her. I walk around campus all the time and do my work outside. I literally lost the freshman 15 this semester instead of gaining it. She's made some friends now though, so she's not always in our room. Thank goodness

The girl has taken on an attatchment to you in a form. If you don't like how she is acting about the whole ordeal, sit her down and tell her to chill out a little bit. She may just be trying to be your friend, and/or she may not have a whole lot of people who tolerate her in her life. It may seem annoying, but do try to understand just where it is she's coming from, and show a little sensitivity. That's all she really wants, and even if you end up not really talking to her after you move out, it won't seem like it was based on bad terms.

I would say let her be and use headphones. You cant be annoyed by what you cant hear. Still, its nicer to have a nice roomate rather than a manic depressive I guess.

I think it's great that she's got that kind of energy. It's hard when a roommate isn't as down to earth as you, but there may be a time next year when you momentarily miss her peppiness. Also, maybe you've rubbed off a bit on her. She'll start needing less and less reassurance from others.

Tell her your trying to study. Or study in a romm where you can lock the door. Maybe try going to the libary to study.
