If you're going to college to expand your career options and salary potential, then chances are you'll want to go to some sort of graduate or professional school after that. And in that case, they can matter. For example, a law school applicant should do Debate, Mock Trial, or Model UN. A medical school applicant may want to join a Biology club or a Pre-Med society. I think you get the point. And, outside all of that, a fraternity is great for networking, so it may be in your financial interest to join.
