I'm a sophomore right now, and next year, a good many of my friends will be studying abroad in the fall. I fear that my social life will suffer as a result. But in a way, I also feeling like it will give me motivation to try and find other people on campus.

Is it common for students in junior year to be more open to new people? I found that while in freshman year, everybody was willing to make new friends, it was a little harder in sophomore year. Since up to 40% of student at my college study abroad, I'm thinking that junior year will no longer be "more of the same". Or at least I hope so.

im a sophmore this year too the year is almost over. but join some clubs, maybe get in a sport, or get in an elective you never thought you would take that can lead to new friends, some confidence and some old school pride. but introduce yourself and be yourself
